Professor Jorge Dias
Professor Jorge Dias holds a Doctor of Science and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. He is a Full Professor at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, where he coordinates research in Artificial Perception at the Khalifa University Center of Autonomous Robotic Systems (KUCARS). With over 40 years of experience in Robotics and AI, his expertise lies in Artificial Perception, Computer Vision, and Robotic Vision. Professor Dias has led numerous international research projects, including European initiatives like “Social Robot” and “GrowMeUP,” which focused on enhancing the wellbeing of the elderly. He currently coordinates the RISE Marie Curie project ECOBOTICS.sea, which develops robots for ecosystem surveillance and animal behavior monitoring. He has authored over 300 publications and is known for his contributions to Robotics and his book Probabilistic Robot Perception.
