Nabin Narayan Munankarmi, Ph. D Scholar is a young shining Scientist and social activist of Nepal in the sector of science and technology. He had experience of more than decades on teaching graduate and post graduate level students from various University of Nepal like Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Purbanchal University and Pokhara University in the field of applied life sciences like biotechnology, molecular biology, cell biology, cancer biology, genetics, biochemistry, immunology, process biotechnology, food biotechnology, agriculture biotechnology, plant biotechnology, medical biotechnology and Biotechnology education.
He obtained his Master degree in Biotechnology from Tribhuvan University in 2013. He is the current president of Biotechnology Society of Nepal (BSN), Country director of Mission Oxygen Team (MOT), member of Biotechnology and Food Technology subcommittee, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Member, NAST – Professional Society Coordination Committee, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), Khumaltar, Lalitpur, Nepal and had experience of serving and brining productive outcomes as Member, High-Level Advisory Committee for COVID-19, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Government of Nepal, Singhdarbar, Kathmandu, Nepal. He played an active role in opening TU Biotechnology Department Kirtipur Municipality COVID-19 laboratory in Kirtipur and meticulous effort in COVID-19 Crises Management Committee (CCMC) where put tremendous effort on policy, law, act on vaccine molecular Diagnostic and diagnosis.
He has leads series of country based activities like establishment of Biomedical Equipments Management System (BEMS-bems.mohp.gov.np) under Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), establishment of scientific protocol on banana soft fibre production and usefulness of conventional PCR based COVID-19 diagnosis.
He has experience of organizing and leading various national and international training, workshop, seminar, Symposium and conferences. He has been advocating 3rd party calibration of biomedical equipment for the safety of public health, molecular barcoding of different mosquitoes available in Nepal and their link with tropical Vector borne diseases and actively involved in Legalisation of Cannabis health based research and development. Additionally, he has been promoting the use of plant tissue culture technology, hydroponic and aeroponics of the quality and quantity enhancement of high value cash crops, orchids and other economic based plants. Moreover, he is working on Medicinal Aromatic Plant (MAP)s their potential in driving the economy of rural poor and ultimately the country GDP.
